When I became the teacher-librarian, the shelves and furniture in the library were in dire need of reorganization.  Sight lines were opened up and shelves were reorganized in a logical order to help students more easily locate books.

Self checkout and beginning of fiction shelves before they were moved to make room for a maker space.

The fiction section had a zig zag pattern to it and students didn't find it logical.
The fiction section was organized in a confusing way and students spent many minutes walking around trying to find books.
The biographies and the 700s-900s were separated from the rest of the nonfiction.
The last section to reunite all nonfiction together in a logical order.
The addition of comfortable seating helps encourage students to read books.
